Torres was powerful, pacey, good in the air and a constant menace to opposition defenders. Steven Gerrard and 'El Nino' became a partnership that would become first-class during his time at the club. Gerrard would produce a pin point pass to Torres and he would do the rest. It was a deadly combo.

"I'm spoilt having a team-mate like Gerrard as I can count on him supplying me with perfect passes," said Torres in an interview.

The Spanish striker moved to Chelsea in 2011 for a few of £50 million. He never reached the heights expected of him at Stamford Bridge, he lost his consistency of scoring. His glory years were certainly at Liverpool even though he didn't win a Premier League title. The World Cup winner gave Rafa Benitez a real number 9 that could score goals for his team.

Torres finished third in the Ballon d'OR awards in 2008, behind Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. Injuries were also a downfall for the Spaniard in his career. 'El Nino' had all the potential to become the best striker in the world for a number of years. One would wonder how far he could have gone if he didn't moved from Liverpool. The Premier League will never forget 'El Nino'. Fernando Torres - a player that was irresistible on his day.
